Newcastle owner Mike Ashley is reported to have "vomited in the fireplace" during a Sports Direct senior management meeting held at a pub in Derbyshire.

The bizarre allegation was made in court by financial expert and investment banker Jeffrey Blue, who is suing Ashley over an alleged failure to pay him £14m for helping to increase Sports Direct's share price.

Blue told the court about the lack of professionalism of Ashley business practices including how several management meetings were held in the pub, where there would be a "pub lock-in" involving alcohol, fish and chips and kebabs.

Mr Blue told the High Court: "On one such evening, in front of his senior management team, Mr Ashley challenged a young Polish analyst in my team, Pawel Pawlowski, to a drinking competition.

"Mr Ashley and Pawel would drink pints of lager, with vodka 'chasers' between each pint, and the first to leave the bar area for whatever reason was declared the loser.

"After approximately 12 pints and chasers, Pawel apologised profusely and had to excuse himself. Mr Ashley then vomited into the fireplace located in the centre of the bar, to huge applause from his senior management team."

Blue then went to give information around meetings that happened at other pubs, this time a pub in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

"Meetings typically commenced in the bar area of the Lion Hotel at around 8pm, with Mr Ashley drinking at the bar while in discussions with various members of the Sports Direct senior management team," Mr Blue said.

"Mr Ashley would frequently end up taking important Sports Direct related business decisions throughout the evening."

Mike Ashley has never been the most popular man in football. The Sports Direct owner recieves a lot of criticism from the Newcastle fanbase and there has been a number of campaign from the Magpies supporters to try and get him out of the club.
