Liverpool have confirmed the permanent sale of Andre Wisdom to Derby County after agreeing a fee for the player last month.

The move will see Wisdom return to the Rams after a successful loan spell in the 2013/14 season.

Since then, the 24-year-old has gone on to feature for West Brom, Norwich and Red Bull Salzburg - the most recent, where he managed 24 appearances for them last season.

Since his breakthrough season in 2012 with the Reds, Wisdom has only made 21 appearances following his debut in September five years ago.

While no transfer fee has been announced as of yet, a statement from Liverpool on the club's official website reads:

"Andre Wisdom has joined Derby County after completing his permanent transfer from Liverpool today.

"A deal was agreed between the Reds and the Championship side last month for the 24-year-old to make the move.

"Everyone at Liverpool FC thanks Andre for his contribution to the club and wishes him the best of luck in his future career."

The versatile defender can play at both the centre of the back line or fill in at right back, giving Gary Rowett a good addition to his defence ahead of the Championship season.

Derby finished ninth in the league last season - 13 points off a play-off place, and Rowett will be desperate to improve and prepare his team over the summer in order to try and gain promotion into the Premier League.

After selling Will Hughes to Watford for a reported £8m fee, funds are likely to be available for the manager to do just that.
