Everton are planning a shock move this summer for Olivier Giroud from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is preparing for life without Romelu Lukaku as his transfer saga continues and according to the Sun, Koeman is making Giroud his primary target - the transfer will be for around £20m.

Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku is likely to leave Goodison Park following an impressive season in the Premier League and his former club Chelsea could be looking to fork out £100m to bring him back to Stamford Bridge. If this was to happen, Koeman would need to find a suitable replacement and the report suggests that Giroud would be top of his transfer list.

Giroud is currently more than a little unsettled at the Emirates with a serious lack of game time last year left the French goalscorer feeling frustrated on the sidelines.

Koeman will be able to guarantee Giroud time on the pitch - something Arsene Wenger is seemingly reluctant to do. Also, Koeman wants to make Everton a Champions League club and his desire to succeed could appeal to Giroud as he seeks regular first-team action.

The Toffees have not been shy so far in the transfer window; they have already spent a combined £53m on bringing goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Davy Klassen to the club. They are reportedly set to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane in the next 24 hours for around £25m and they're also set to complete the signing of Sandro Ramirez from Malaga for £5.2m.

It is looking more and more likely for an Arsenal exit for Giroud with the Gunners close to signing Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette for a club record £46m.
