Sex and advertising have long been a winning combination; indeed, Scottish club Ayr United tried the trick last season when publicising their new home strip, with sponsors Bodog using a topless model covered in paint depicting the team's colours as a means to get their, ahem, point across.

It was perhaps a little controversial, but hey, there's no such thing as bad publicity and, with this in mind, they've gone and done it again.

''After last year's controversy...we body-painted model in the away strip rather than the home one,'' claims the sponsor, with tongue firmly cheek.

It appears the Scottish Championship side are equally happy to pick up where they left off last time, and all in all, it appears to be a match made in heaven.

Bodog founder Calvin Ayre continues:

“We hope the pictures will give The Honest Men [Ayr United's nickname] the boost they need for promotion and a good Cup run too. ‘Mon Ayr!'”

A United spokesperson had the following to say: “It’s a big season for the club and its great to have Bodog on board again.

The spokesperson concluded: “In the modern era it’s pretty rare to have such a long-term sponsor and there’s aplenty to be positive about the season ahead.”
