The agent of Robert Lewandowski believes Bayern Munich is the best club for the striker's development.

Manchester United have recently been linked with the Poland international, revered as one of the finest forwards in European football, but his agent has not given the Premier League side much encouragement in their pursuit of the 28-year-old.

"I don’t want to say anything more on this subject, because everything I say here is translated into German and every word is analysed by the media," Cezary Kucharski told Futbolfejs.pl via the Manchester Evening News.

"However, I’ve got used to always being the one to blame when it concerns Lewandowski.

"I’ve always said, though, and I’m still of the same opinion, that Bayern Munich are the best club for the development of his career. And my opinion hasn’t changed, not today nor yesterday."

United are said to be on the lookout for another striker after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was released following the conclusion of his contract, while their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann ended in disappointment after the Spanish club's transfer ban was upheld.

Lewandowski finished the 2016-17 Bundesliga season with 30 league goals but was reportedly left unhappy at a lack of support from his teammates in the final game of the campaign as Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished as the competition's top scorer.

United are expected to spend heavily this summer as they look to mount a Premier League title bid next season, as well as competing in the Champions League after their Europa League triumph.

Former Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson scouted Lewandowski during a DFB-Pokal final but elected to sign Robin van Persie from Arsenal instead.
