Swansea are closing in on their first major signing of the summer after holding advanced talks with highly-rated Las Palmas star, Roque Mesa.
The midfielder enjoyed a brilliant La Liga campaign in 2016/17 and could make the move to Wales for as little as £11m.
According to Wales Online, the Swans have stolen a march on a whole host of European rivals for Mesa's coveted signature.
Roma and Sevilla were just two of the high-profile sides interested, with the La Liga side having a £8m rejected for him last summer.
Manager Paul Clement has made it clear that he wants a new midfielder to enhance his side's chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier League next season.
The Las Palmas man would become the Swans' third most expensive signing of all time and would also be a huge statement from a side that narrowly avoided the drop last campaign.
Mesa reportedly has a £26m release clause in his contract, however, Las Palmas are willing to settle for £11m, which would be a record sale for the club.
Swansea are also close to signing Chelsea's Tammy Abraham on a season-long loan deal after his impressive spell with Bristol City in 2016/17.
Alongside the likes of Jack Cork and Leroy Fer, the Welsh club could have a fairly formidable midfield if they can sort a deal for Mesa.
Clement worked miracles last season following his arrival, undoing the dreadful work done by Bob Bradley and now, the Englishman is determined to work wonders in the transfer market.
