Arsenal have held talks with PSG regarding the possible transfer of Blaise Matuidi, according to reports in the player's native France.

The international midfielder - also linked with Manchester United and Juventus - has had great success with the French giants since moving to the Parcs des Princes from Saint-Etienne in 2011, winning four Ligue 1 championships and numerous domestic titles.

However, Twitter reports believe the 30-year-old could leave this summer, with Arsenal having held talks with Unai Emery's side while there has also been consistent communication with Manchester United regarding a potential deal.

Matuidi, who has won 58 international caps for France, would add some much-needed steel to Arsenal's midfield roster.

Arsenal are expected to spend heavily this summer (Kylian Mbappe, Riyad Mahrez, Thomas Lemar and Alexandre Lacazette have also been linked) in order to mount a real Premier League challenge next season.

There are, however, obstacles blocking the move as of present, with Arsenal's lack of Champions League football and the uncertain future of star forwards Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil potentially proving negative points in the ability to sell the Arsenal project to Matuidi.

It is claimed that Matuidi's agent - the infamous 'super agent' Mino Raiola - is keen on the midfielder to move to Juventus but that the transfer does not appeal to the player, and that rivals Manchester United might be a more interesting option for the ex-Troyes man.

However, with a move for Nemanja Matic seemingly all but complete, it remains to be seen if Jose Mourinho would spend big for another central midfielder this summer.
