Massachusetts Football Team Washington Square FC have revealed their new shirt sponsor - and it's certainly not your typical betting company.

The amateur, Brookline based club, founded in 2013, have teamed up with pornography website Redtube.

Announcing the sponsorship deal on Twitter, the club wrote: "Happy to officially announce the partnership. It's the name on the front of the jersey that matters..."

It's certainly earned the club some publicity, although it may have taken some of the attention away from the design of the shirt itself.

Nonetheless, social media did its thing, and the club have received thousands of requests to buy replica shirts.

They later announced that they would be opening a Washington Square FC online store for those keen to purchase the jersey, and even created their own hashtag: #RedTubeArmy.

Whatever people may think of the controversial choice of sponsor, it's clear that the club have some keen business acumen. The more shirts they sell, the more fans are likely to turn up to watch the previously unknown side.

Whether their mind will be on the football is another matter.
