Liverpool have rejected an approach from Celtic for young winger Harry Wilson.

The Liverpool Echo reports that former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers was keen on reuniting with the Welsh international, but incumbent manager Jurgen Klopp has dashed such hopes.

The Hoops, fresh off an unbeaten title winning season in the Scottish Premier League, made inquiries both about taking Wilson on loan and Liverpool's willingness to sell him permanently.

However, they were informed that any offers for the Welshman would be outright rejected, with Klopp viewing the twenty-year-old as part of his first team plans heading into 2017/18.

Indeed, the Liverpool Under-23s captain experienced a breakthrough season at age group level, with his form warranting him the opportunity to join Liverpool's end of season tour to Australia.

He played in the first half of Wednesday night's comfortable 3-0 victory over A-League Champions Sydney FC.

Equipped with a prolific goal scoring record for the academy side, Wilson was promoted to Melwood on a permanent basis for the second half of the campaign.

Thereafter, he was one of several youngsters handed first-team debuts by Klopp in January's FA Cup tie with with Plymouth, and is said to be highly rated by the German manager.
