No one would have been more peeved than Robert Lewandowski when it was announced that the 2020 Ballon d'Or was not going to be awarded.

Thanks to his otherworldly goalscoring form, the Bayern Munich striker would have been the heavy favourite to scoop the famous prize for the first time in his career. Alas, his remarkable form during this most turbulent of years is now in danger of being forgotten.

Well, not on our watch. Let this article stand as a reminder of Lewandowski's game-changing 2020 form for generations to come.

Here are five crazy stats that demonstrate just how ridiculously lethal the Polish frontman has been in front of goal.

1. Let's Start Out Simple

Before we get niche and weird with our stats, let's start off nice and simple.

In 44 games all competitions this season Lewandowski has managed a ludicrous 54 goals. That's 1.22 goals per game and it's only three fewer than Norwich City and Crystal Palace managed combined in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

As if that's not enough, the Pole also racked up eight assists. That's 62 goal involvements in total. Woah.

Unsurprisingly, he finished as the Bundesliga top scorer and is all leading the scoring and assist charts in the Champions League.

2. Best Return Since Football's Return

Lewandowski could have been forgiven if he'd come back from the football's COVID-19 enforced absence in a slightly subdued scoring mood.

However, back in May he told 90min that he would be raring to go from the off and he's made good on his promise.

Since football's return the two players with the most goal involvements in Europe's top five leagues are Lionel Messi (7 goals, 9 assists) and...you guessed it, Lewandowski (13 goals, 4 assists).

3. He Loves Working With Hansi Flick

Hansi Flick has worked many miracles since taken over from the hapless Niko Kovac as Bayern boss. Among his chief successes has been the brilliant form he's managed to get out of Lewandowski's.

Since Flick took charge Die Roten, the forward has been unstoppable in the Champions League. Lewandowski has managed eight goals and four assists so far, which equates to a goal involvement every 29 minutes.

4. More Minutes Per Goal Madness

So far, Lewandowski has scored 13 goals in seven Champions League games this season. Impressive to be sure, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

He's also averaged a goal every 47 minutes in Europe, which is the best minutes per goal ratio in a single campaign of any player to play at least 500 minutes that season.

To add further acclaim, he's moved up to fourth on the competition's all-time scorers list and is second to only Lionel Messi in the all-time minutes per goal standings.

5. The Best Streak Since the Undertaker

When they hear this next stat, Bayern's competitors for the Champions League will be pleased that Lewandowski will not be enjoying home advantage for the rest of the tournament

In the 25 home games that the 31-year-old has scored in, he has always come out on the winning side. 20 times for Bayern and five times for Borussia Dortmund.

That is some winning streak.
