Being included in a PFA Team of the Year is regarded as one of the highest honours possible as it is voted for by fellow players from 100 clubs. including the Premier League, the Football League and Women's Super League.

PFA Chief Executive, Gordon Taylor OBE said: “For the winners who are honoured at the awards, there can be no greater personal accolade than that of being recognised by your peers; an honour to be cherished."

26-year-old Australian Mooy, initially struggled at the beginning of his career having started at Bolton Wanderers' academy before spending time with Scottish side St. Mirren and in his native Australia with Western Sydney Wanderers with very little success.

However it was Mooy's next move to Melbourne City where he began to find success in football.

Melbourne City are part of the ever growing 'City' brand along with New York City of the MLS and English giants Manchester City and it was this association that instigated Mooy's eventual move to the Etihad last summer.

Mooy impressed during his two seasons at Melbourne, scoring 24 goals in 58 appearances, and this was enough for Manchester City to strike a deal for Australian.

Immediately after signing for the Citizens, Mooy was shipped out to Huddersfield Town where he has an amazing season so far helping his side to Championship playoffs where they look certain to stay with only four games remaining.
