Real Madrid celebrated their progression to the Champions League semi-finals after overcoming German giants Bayern Munich 6-3 on aggregate following Tuesday's victory at the Bernabeu.
In a marvellous encounter, Los Blancos came out on top - 4-2 to be exact - over the reigning Bundesliga champions and despite Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick heroics, it was another Real player who had fans purring in the aftermath of the six goal thriller.
Veteran full-back Marcelo was one of the game's stand out performers on the night, and a stat that came out after the match proved just how influential the Brazil international was in helping Real's cause:
Marcelo created as many chances (8) last night as Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Xabi Alonso, Arturo Vidal and Thiago did combined (8). pic.twitter.com/E5SzvwivG8— Squawka Football (@Squawka) April 19, 2017
That's quite a feat, particularly when you consider that Bayern boast a number of world-class players who are capable of producing something out of nothing.
If that wasn't good enough, Marcelo also made seven interceptions, three blocks, completed nine take-ons and provided an assist for Ronaldo to notch one of his three strikes on the night.
If anyone is deserving of praise for his performance against Bayern, look no other than the 28-year-old. Sheer class.
