AC Milan may have handed a big transfer blow to Arsenal and Tottenham as they look set to win the race to sign highly-rated Villarreal defender, Mateo Musacchio.

The Argentine has been rated as one of La Liga's finest defenders for some time now and with just one year left on his current contract, Milan have stolen in ahead of the Premier League competition.

That is according to reports in Italy, as per TalkSport, who say that Musacchio has already agreed on personal terms with the Rossoneri over a summer switch.

A fee has not yet been decided on, but it is though that 26-year-old would cost around £13m, a price that in today's market, is fairly good for an Argentinian international.

Both Arsenal and Spurs are looking for defensive reinforcements in the summer with the former desperate for new staff to fix their leaky backline - the latter simply just need additional cover.

Milan are set for a busy summer after their Chinese takeover was confirmed just days before their dramatic 2-2 draw against Inter in the Milan derby.

The club are a long way from where they want to be in the league table, but some serious financial investment from their new owners could help propel them back to the summit of Italian football.

They have enjoyed a marginally better campaign under the leadership of Vincenzo Montella this campaign and are currently on course to qualify for the Europa League next season.

With signings like Musacchio, Milan will be a team on the rise, one that will look to knock Juventus off their dominant perch in Serie A.
