The ex-wife of former Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has revealed she is helping to keep German side Hannover motivated by performing a dressing room striptease...sort of.

Slyvie Meis was married to van der Vaart for eight years before the couple split up in 2013.

Now a German TV personality, the Dutch model has revealed (via the Sun) that a cardboard cut-out of her wearing very little has been placed in German second division side Hannover's dressing room, in a move that appears to be helping the players.

Currently unbeaten in five games and top of 2. Bundesliga, the Hannover players are allowed to remove one piece of clothing that is currently covering Ms Meis' cut-out for every point they win.

Not at all creepy.

When discussing her role in the matter with Bild, Sylvie revealed that there may be an even better reward for the Hannover team, should they secure promotion to the top flight in May.

She said: “If I am still seen as a lucky omen in the world of football then I must be doing something right.

"If Hannover win promotion I will appear in their dressing-room in person."

Whilst the bizarre motivation technique appears to be paying off, Hannover head coach Andre Breitenreiter has played down the story. Although he too appeared to hint at a possible visit from Sylvie as a 'reward', should his players win promotion to the Bundesliga.

He added: "It is a bit of fun, although we don't want to make too much of a big deal out of it. We have to go up first, then Sylvie can visit us."
