Manchester United look set for another season of what could have been this year and Champions League qualification through the league looks highly unlikely.

If United are to qualify for next year's Champions League, winning the Europa League looks to be their best chance.

However, Jose Mourinho is already planning for next season and according to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho has contacted Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester United next season.

After another disappointing league campaign, manager Jose Mourinho looks set to carry out yet another overhaul of United talent and that could start with bringing in Arsenal forward Sanchez.

The Mirror write that reports in Sanchez's native Chile have linked both Manchester clubs to the forward who looks set to leave the Emirates this summer.

The Arsenal man's form has taken a nose dive over the past few weeks and cryptic comments on international duty from the player only fanned the flames of his current discontent at Arsenal.

Another club and manager linked to Sanchez are Chelsea and their manager Antonio Conte.

Although the Italian was coy about commenting on the rumours he did refuse to move out a move for the Arsenal man.

"You know I don't like to speak about other players of other clubs. It's disrespectful for the other club and, above all, for my players. It's not the right moment to speak about this."
