The Premier League's official twitter account was caught red-handed on Wednesday night, rapidly deleting a bizarre tweet after it prompted backlash from supporters.
The tweet was in relation to Manchester United's top-four hopes this season, which have been dealt a huge blow after successive home draws against Bournemouth, West Brom and Everton.

The Red Devils have now drawn nine of their last 16 games at home, leaving them in need of a miracle to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Jose Mourinho's side now sit four points behind local rivals Manchester City in the all-elusive fourth spot, but with games coming up away to City, Arsenal and Spurs as well as a home game against Chelsea, United's chances of sneaking into the top four remain slim.
However, the Premier League think differently, as they believe the point gained against Everton 'turns up the heat on the top-four'.

Accompanied with an image of the top-six, they wrote:

@premierleague No it doesn't ! Nobody cares yesterday's team!
