Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has ordered superstar Paul Pogba to focus more on his football and less on his commercial work off the pitch.

Mourinho was reportedly less than impressed with Pogba's recent twitter emoji stunt, which saw his likeness displayed on all advertising boards around around the Old Trafford pitch in a match against Liverpool.

During the game, the Frenchman struggled and gave away a penalty, and was criticised for his poor performance.

Pogba has a number of sponsorship agreements and is an Adidas poster boy. However Mourinho reportedly feels the the release of his own emoji and the attention it attracted was a step too far.

The 24-year old central midfielder has been told by Mourinho that he will be dropped to the bench should he feel off-the-field commercial activities start to affect his performances on the pitch for the Red Devils.

Since joining Manchester United for a record transfer fee of £89.3 million from Italian champions Juventus, Pogba has struggled to justify his price tag and has been accused by a number of pundits of seeking to promote his personal brand through social media and eye-catching haircuts.

Mourinho has always publicly defended his record singing from the criticism of pundits but will be hoping Pogba himself does all the talking on the pitch and not on social media.
