According to German outlet Sport Bild, via Daily Star, Arsene Wenger's Arsenal are said to be monitoring Red Bull Leipzig's £26m rated central midfielder Naby Kieta.

The report also claims, however, that the Gunners' interest in the tireless Guinean playmaker is being rivalled by Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, who see the 22-year-old as a long-term replacement for retiring veteran Xabi Alonso.

RB Leipzig v TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - Bundesliga

Keita has been part of the Red Bull franchise for some time now. He signed from Leipzig's sister club Red Bull Salzburg in June 2016, and has rubber stamped a firm starting place in Ralph Hasenhuttl's preferred match day squad.

RB Leipzig's propulsion to the top of Germany's domestic hierarchy has attracted many European suitors into monitoring the club's tenacious professionals. After their promotion to the Bundesliga this season, Leipzig are sitting comfortably in second spot and are six-points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who reside in third.

Leipzig will be hopeful that they can cling on to their highly-rated squad members with Champions League football looming. However it won't deter some of Europe's already established giants' efforts in luring them away to pastures new.

After netting four goals and tabling eight assists this season for high-flying Leipzig, Wenger is said to admire the persistent central-midfielder. That is, of course, Carlo Ancelotti doesn't have any bright ideas of his own in order to hijack the north Londoners pursuit of Keita.

Once the summer transfer window opens, there's likely to be a clash between two heavy-weights of the European game, sparring for the signature of one of the Bundesliga's most sought-after young star.
