Undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has been enjoying his tour of the UK and it seems as if the American superstar has taken some time out to meet some footballers.

Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe posted a picture on his Instagram of himself and Mayweather together in the VIP area of Livello club in Newcastle.

The duo looked extremely happy together and the England forward will be hoping he can syphon some of Mayweather's winning mentality as the Black Cats look to pull off yet another great escape from the Premier League.

Prior to his meeting with Defoe, the boxer was seen pictured with some rather starstruck members of the Newcastle squad as they celebrated their 3-1 win over promotion-chasing Huddersfield.

Goalkeeper Karl Darlow took to Instagram to post a picture with Mayweather, alongside colleagues Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles and Daryl Murphy.

The Magpies now find themselves five points clear in the Championship table after back-to-back wins against Brighton and Huddersfield as they look to set to achieve their goal of promotion at the first time of asking.

Mayweather's tour was initially blighted by a suspected arson attack on his transport vehicle at the beginning of his tour in Birmingham.

The former champion was not injured, but it was feared he would abandon the rest of his tour due to the attack.

However, the irrepressible athlete was not to be stopped and has since enhanced his reputation on British soil with his insightful Q&A sessions on the tour.

The boxing legend is rumoured to be close to sealing a fight with UFC's Conor McGregor in what would really be a box office smash.
