Manchester City's new £27m signing Gabriel Jesus has revealed how surprised he is at his incredible start to life at the Etihad.

The young Brazilian has scored three goals in his last two games for Pep Guardiola's side, stealing Sergio Aguero's starting eleven place in the process.

“I am very happy,” the 19-year-old told Manchester City's official website. “Each day I feel that I am adjusting really well, with the support of everyone in the club.

“The players, they help me every day and that makes me happy, even more because I am able to make a good start in a City shirt.”

The former Palmeiras man was originally signed in the summer but spent the first half of the season on-loan at his old side helping them win the Brazilian Serie A. The pacy forward has fitted into Guardiola's formation and plans with ease, playing in the middle of a three-man attack alongside Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling.

“I am very surprised. Although I work a lot every single day, with everyone’s support, in order for that to happen,” Jesus added.

Aguero's future at the Etihad has been cast into doubt following his dropping from the first team as many have speculated that Guardiola prefers Jesus in his style over the Argentinian.

The 28-year-old has scored 11 goals this term and is one of City's all time record goal scorers, but Jesus' emergence has resulted in the striker taking a back seat in recent weeks.

It now lies with the Spanish coach as to whether he chooses to stick with Jesus for the next couple of games or if he goes back to Aguero.
