Liverpool fans are said to be seething, following the revelation of the circumstances under which German star attacker Julian Draxler joined French champions Paris Saint-Germain last month.
Draxler moved from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg for a reported fee of around £34m after a very poor start to the season. He has scored four times, having made seven appearances since joining Unai Emery's side.
The 23-year-old could have proved a useful addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad, especially given their current struggles. The Reds have only won one game from 10 this year, and have dropped from a second-place position in the Premier League table to fifth.
Fans are both shocked and angry with the team's recent form, but with sources having revealed that the club missed out on signing Draxler because of his £170,000-a-week wage demands, the level of vexation has risen even higher.
That on its own isn't enough to grind the supporters' gears. However, when coupled with the Telegraph's report of Adam Lallana being on the verge of signing a new deal worth £150,000 per week, it's certainly understandable.
Lallana has been great for Liverpool this season, but mostly last year. Since returning from injury, he has done little to aid the situation, but is still being rewarded with just 20,000 less than what Draxler - who is five years younger - was demanding only last month.
Over the years, the Reds have missed out on the likes of Willian, Mohamed Salah, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mario Gotze due to their owners' refusal to spend big.
The reportedly transfer shy attitude follows recent reports of FSG's leaked emails showing the group in a poor light, which already provoked some ire from sections of the supporters.
