After a pretty disappointing summer transfer window led to a pretty disappointing first half of the season, PSG had to fix their team this January.

The Paris outfit spent £25m on Benfica highly-rated youngster Gonçalo Guedes, who was also a target of Manchester United.

Now arrived in Paris, the young Portuguese international, who made his debut last Sunday against Monaco, explained to French media outlet RMC why he chose Paris Saint-Germain over Manchester United.

"I've always wanted to pick Paris. I know that French and English football are different but honestly, for a player my age, a young player, Paris was a better choice because it's a big club. Manchester would've helped me too but here, I'd feel more like home than in England," Guedes said.

He continued: "They told me that they trusted me, that they had believed in my qualities and that I could grow in Paris, become a better player.

"Also, the fact that there's a huge Portuguese community in Paris helped. It's better for my adaptation to get to discuss with people, to feel the support of Portuguese people. It weighed on my decision".

While the decision may come as a blow to some United fans, they will no doubt have forgotten all about Guedes when they sign Griezmann next summer.
