The final week of the MLS regular season is now in the books. We know which teams will be in the postseason, which teams failed to make the cut, and we also have a pretty good idea of which teams are legit contenders.
We also witnessed some spectacular goals over #DecisionDay. Here are the five best from the past weekend.
5. Toronto FC vs Chicago Fire: Justin Morrow (TOR, 54')
On the surface, there's nothing really fancy about Justin Morrow's goal since he nodded home a header from relatively close range. But the assist from Sebastian Giovinco is superb, as the Italian playmaker left a defender behind with a great move, and later crossed the ball accurately so Morrow only had to tap it in. A great goal for the Canadian team.
4. Vancouver Whitecaps vs Portland Timbers: Giles Barnes (VAN, 13')
Giles Barnes was one of the best players during the Vancouver Whitecaps' win over the Portland Timbers. The Jamaican forward scored two goals, but his first one is the one that cracks our list. Following a cross from the right side, Barnes hit a one-time shot that went straight into the top corner of Jake Gleeson. It was an impressive strike for a side that missed the playoffs.
3. New England Revolution vs Montreal Impact: Diego Fagundez (NE, 13')
It seems as if Diego Fagundez has been around forever, but the Uruguayan playmaker has simply been a steady performer for the Revolution the last couple of years. The versatile midfielder certainly left his mark in New England's last game of the season against the Montreal Impact, scoring with a marvelous free kick from a difficult position.
2. Orlando City vs DC United: Kaka (ORL, 21')
Kaka's best days might be behind him, but no one can say the Brazilian isn't talented enough to make an impact in MLS. The Orlando City SC star remains a productive player and that's exactly what he protrayed against the DC United, as he left a defender behind with his pace and finished the sequence with a beautiful goal that went over the keeper.
1. Vancouver Whitecaps vs Portland Timbers: Pedro Morales (VAN, 54')
Pedro Morales is the second Whitecaps' player to appear in this list, and he deservedly won the top spot as he scored a magnificent goal against Portland. During the second half and with Vancouver already on top, the Chilean playmaker took advantage of a rebound to blast an impressive shot past the keeper. It was undoubtedly the best goal of the week.
