According to ESPN, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a fan of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
The German midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield last summer but his club were reluctant to sell after having already sold Granit Xhaka to Arsenal.
Liverpool are expected to return for Mahmoud Dahoud again in the next transfer window but according to ESPN sources Pep Guardiola is also a fan of the 20-year-old, and will join the race for his signature in January.
Hearing that Pep has asked City to bring Dahoud as soon as January. Interesting, he's worth the investment.— Rafael Hernández (@RafaelH117) October 7, 2016
The report says Manchester City are ready to spend again when the January transfer window opens and Mahmoud Dahoud is one of Guardiola's targets.
Manchester City have also been linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal and could return with a renewed bid for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci.
However, Dahouod, Vidal and Bonucci would all be unavailable for the Champions League if they moved to City in January, having already played in the competition with their clubs this season.
