Manchester United Legend Paul Scholes Tips Liverpool for Premier League Title Challenge

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has said he thinks that Liverpool have what it takes to win the Premier League title this season.

The ex-Red Devils player believes United's North West rivals are looking particularly dangerous in the opening weeks of the campaign, and said as much on BT Sport this week.

Liverpool have found the back of the net 23 times in just eight matches in all competitions this term - games that have included a 5-1 thrashing of Hull City, as well as 4-1 and 4-3 triumphs over Leicester and Arsenal respectively - as Jurgen Klopp's men have blown their opponents away with their attacking verve, creativity and finishing ability.

The long time rivals face one against one another at Anfield on October 17, and Scholes is already predicting that the Reds are capable of beating anyone on current form, including Jose Mourinho's men.

When asked he thought Liverpool could win the title, Scholes said: " They do to me. I hope they don't (win the league)!

"I was a little bit worried about them defensively but you have to say the attacking qualities they are showing at the minute, they look like they are going to score goals against anybody."

The former midfield man also launched a stinging attack on the current crop of United stars after their lacklustre 1-0 Europa League win over Ukrainian minnows Zoryz Luhansk.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 69th minute winner spared United's blushes in a tepid match at Old Trafford, and Scholes does not believe that United's players have the heart to compete in the lesser of UEFA's two continental competitions.

He added: "One shot on target probably sums it up. They gave United problems on the break.

"United won which is the most important thing, and there were some bits of good play, but the quality in the final third wasn’t what you’d normally associate with this team.

"Maybe the Europa League is something they’re not interested in.

"The manager is passionate on the sidelines and it looks like it’s something he wants to win so he needs to try and transfer that on to the players."
