Week 29 in MLS had lots of impressive results and interesting games, but it also had a fair share of players who had magnificent displays over the weekend. Here are the best three players over the last round of matches in MLS.
3. Daniel Royer – New York Red Bulls
Royer scored the only goal of the game during the New York Red Bulls' 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact. In addition to making an impact on the offensive end, the Austrian also looked sharp at the back even though he was deployed in a very defensive role, playing a few meters back from where he's used to. His goal put the Red Bulls a step closer to reaching the playoffs.
2. Jordan Morris – Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Sounders' rookie sensation continues to have an impressive debut season at the MLS level. In what was one of the best performances from Seattle this season, the Sounders defeated Los Angeles Galaxy by a 4-2 score, and Morris contributed with two goals. The former Stanford standout now has 12 goals in 29 appearances this season.
1. Mauro Manotas – Houston Dynamo
Mauro Manotas made a huge jump from Colombia to MLS and even though the transfer was all about his potential, the attacker is already showing what he can become on offense in the coming months. This past weekend, Manotas scored a hat-trick against the Portland Timbers, and even though Houston is likely out of the playoff race, the three goals evidenced that Manotas has what it takes to perform on U.S. soil.
