Barcelona handed Camp Nou debuts to Andre Gomes, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne and Denis Suarez during the Joan Gamper Trophy victory over Sampdoria on Wednesday night, with all four delighted to play their first game on the hallowed Catalan pitch.

"It was great to put the Barça shirt on. And I’m so happy to have gone out there and enjoyed myself with my team-mates. They made it so much easier for me," €55m Gomes told

"I haven't been with the squad long, but I hope to adapt quickly," the Euro 2016 winner added.

Umtiti only played briefly, but described himself as "very happy" to have done so.

"The most important thing is to be focused. Your team-mates make the rest much easier," the French international defender said. "The idea is to learn from the great players in this team and make the most of every chance I get."

Digne, the only new face that started the game, explained, "I felt fine. I think I'll learn a lot from my team-mates. I'll do all I can to help the team and play as many games as possible."

Suarez was of course a Barcelona player before returning to the club this summer, but having only turned out for the B team during his first spell, it was also his first time playing at Camp Nou.

"It was my first game at the Camp Nou in a Barça shirt and I'm very happy. We are feeling great ahead of the Spanish Super Cup this weekend," he said.

"I feel comfortable playing with Messi. He makes it all so much easier. The truth is we've developed a great understanding."

Messi was in fine form on the night, scoring the second and third Barça goals, as well as providing an acrobatic assist for Luis Suarez earlier on.
