Liverpool have made an enquiry into the availability of Schalke 04 youngster Max Meyer, according to German paper Sport Bild.
The Reds recently signed Sadio Mane from Southampton and are on the verge of completing a deal for Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum. But if the report is to be believed, they are still very much in the hunt for attacking midfielders, even with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and James Milner already in their ranks.
Meyer, 20, happens to be one of the brightest young talents hailing from Germany. He is versatile enough to play in the hole, or on either wing, but given the current state of affairs, one struggles to see where he would fit in at Liverpool.
The folks at Bild, however, seem to believe that Jurgen Klopp is in for the player, and they think that he would cost the club around £25m.
Meyer scored five goals and registered six assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke last season, and at just 20-years-old, he is sure to improve. He could provide a great outlet on the flanks in Liverpool's attack, as well as slot in behind the striker, yet with their current wealth in all those midfield positions, it's still hard to find him a place.
Jurgen Klopp is aiming to take the Reds back to former heights, and seems to be sparing no punches in his bid to reshape the squad, he has already signed five players this summer, and Wijnaldum could be the sixth as soon as Friday.
By the looks of things, though, he won't be stopping there.
