Week 19 in MLS had several matches on Wednesday, but there will also be lots of interesting games this weekend. There will be a couple of thrilling games between Eastern Conference foes, and some of the teams leading the standings are set to clash. Without further ado, here are four must-watch games in MLS Week 19.
4. Real Salt Lake vs New England Revolution
Real Salt Lake is three points clear of the last playoff spot in the Western Conference. New England Revolution, on the other hand, is on a tighter situation, sitting only one point into the top-six zone. Both teams need to win this match to solidify their position in the standings. Only one can.
3. Philadelphia Union vs New York Red Bulls
Two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference will collide this weekend when the Philadelphia Union take on the New York Red Bulls. Even though both teams are sitting below New York City FC in the East, a win for either side could potentially move them into first place. To make things even better, both have two of the best attacks in MLS.
2. Montreal Impact vs New York City FC
New York City FC leads the Eastern Conference, but they will have to take down a tough opponent in Montreal Impact if they want to remain in that spot. The Canadian side is in fourth place in the East, and a win would tighten things up for everybody in the standings. It will also be a star-studded match, with players such as Andrea Pirlo, David Villa, Didier Drogba, Ignacio Piatti and Frank Lampard all expected to play.
1. Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders
Portland vs Seattle is, undoubtedly, the biggest rivalry in any league in United States. Seattle has the edge with 13 wins in the 20 matches both have played in MLS, but they will have to play this game without Clint Dempsey after the USMNT star was sent off against FC Dallas on Wednesday. Portland, however, has played better of late, and they will look to make a statement defeating their biggest rivals. This is a game no soccer fan will want to miss!
