Power Ranking the Top 10 Goals in MLS Week 18

Week 18 in MLS had some marvellous performances, and there were some impressive goals as well. As we do each and every week, here's the ranking for the Top 10 goals over the course of the weekend. Which strike climbed to the top this week?

10. Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Colorado Rapids: Axel Sjoberg (VAN, 90+5')

The first of three goals from this match that snuck into our weekly rankings, Alex Sjoberg's goal was pretty important for Colorado. Aside from being a great header from a tight angle, this stoppage-time strike allowed the Rapids to escape with a draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

9. Toronto FC vs Chicago Fire: Jordan Hamilton (TOR, 9')

Jordan Hamilton is one of the best fullbacks in MLS, and he proved it again this weekend against the Chicago Fire. Hamilton locked down Toronto's left flank with ease, and he also scored his team's lone goal in this match with a great left-footed shot from inside the box.

8. Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Colorado Rapids: Kendall Waston (VAN, 10')

Kendall Waston is known for his aerial prowess on both ends of the pitch, and he proved he can still be an offensive threat against Colorado. Early in the first half, Waston nodded the ball home following an accurate cross from the right side of the pitch. The Costa Rican international is not known for being a goalscorer, but this time he contributed to Vancouver's draw.

7. Seattle Sounders vs Los Angeles Galaxy: Robbie Keane (LA, 15')

Los Angeles Galaxy is known for having one of the fastest attacks in the league with Gyasi Zardes, Giovani dos Santos and Robbie Keane. They are extremely dangerous when they mix pace and accuracy, as evidenced in the video above. Zardes broke free on the left flank and sent a low cross to Keane, who placed it home past Stefan Frei. It seemed like an easy goal, but Keane's movement to adjust before scoring is quite underrated.

6. Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs Colorado Rapids: Kevin Doyle (COL, 59')

Kevin Doyle landed in MLS as a Designated Player and hasn't been able to live up to his contract, but he contributed with a beautiful goal in this match against Vancouver. After a sequence of short passes in the final third, Doyle took advantage of a through ball to place the ball past the keeper with an accurate shot.

5. Philadelphia Union vs DC United: Ilsinho (PHI, 47')

A gifted playmaker, Ilsinho is slowly showing the talent he showcased in Shakhtar Donetsk a few years ago. This weekend, the 30 year old had his best performance on U.S. soil with two goals against D.C. United. His second strike was fantastic, as the Brazilian went upper 90 after he caught a ball bouncing inside the box. Bill Hamid couldn't do anything to stop this shot.

4. Sporting Kansas City vs New York City FC: Jimmy Medranda (SKC, 16')

Jimmy Medranda scored the first goal of his career in spectacular fashion. The midfielder had a great performance against Sporting Kansas City and capped things off with a great strike from outside the box. Had the shot been a bit cleaner, it could've easily landed higher in this week's list.

3. Sporting Kansas City vs New York City FC: Frank Lampard (NYC, 14')

Frank Lampard was, at one point, the most hated man in New York. The former Chelsea star has to do a lot to win people's hearts back, but we can't deny he's on the right track. The former English international scored in mid-week and doubled his tally on Sunday, placing home a finesse shot after a beautiful sequence of passes started by Andrea Pirlo.

2. New England Revolution vs Columbus Crew: Lee Nguyen (NE, 3')

The USMNT international could've easily scored the best goal of the week any other matchday, but not this time. Nguyen scored one of his best goals this weekend against Columbus Crew SC, controlling a ball with his chest before unleashing an upper 90 bomb that left the keeper's reaction helpless.

1. San Jose Earthquakes vs FC Dallas: Maxi Urruti (DAL, 51')

The best goal, however, was the one scored by Maxi Urruti. It's not even close. After Fabian Castillo's cross wasn't cleared properly, Urruti adjusted his body before unleashing a massive overhead kick that found the back of the net. It was undoubtedly the best goal of the week.
