Barcelona are said to be willing to offload midfield misfit Arda Turan for as little as £23m this summer, as the Catalan giants look to cut their losses on the Turkey international with Arsenal said to be interested.

Turan made his La Liga debut for the club just six months ago, but could be on his way after just nine league starts for the Spanish champions in a deeply underwhelming spell - with a further nine appearances off the bench.

The 29-year-old moved to the Nou Camp from Atletico Madrid just last summer in a massive £35m transfer, but couldn't play for his new club until January thanks to transfer sanctions imposed on Luis Enrique and co. by FIFA.

Marca claim that club president Josep Maria Bartomeu is now trying desperately to paint the Turkish midfielder as something other than an 'electoral signing' - a move to keep the fans excited about the future in order to win the vote to remain at the head of the club.

Electoral signing or no, it appears that Turan's time at the club is coming to an end, with top brass said to be willing to listen to any offers that come in for the former Galatasaray star as they aim to limit the financial loss from their transfer blunder.

Denis Suarez's return to the club, triggered when the club activated the buy-back clause in his contract at Villarreal, looks set to cut into Turan's time even further - leaving him right out on the fringes of the first-team squad as Arsenal look for a direct midfield threat.

Granit Xhaka joined the Gunners earlier this summer, but offers more of a hard-tackling, defensive-minded approach than Turan's attacking, creative style.
