​Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi appears set for a move away from the San Siro, following the comments of his wife and agent Wanda Nara this week.

The 23-year-old Argentinean scored 16 Serie A goals during the 2015-16 season, following his 22 in the preceding campaign. 

​However, his agent's interview with CalcioMercatoquoted in Football Italia, confirm Icardi has been placed on the transfer list following a report that his representatives were in talks with a move to Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

Icardi has established himself as one of the most talented finishers in the game, and has subsequently become one of the most wanted forwards' in Europe.

On Sunday morning, Icardi's agent took to Twitter to reveal the talisman's situation.

​​Translated into English, the hashtag means "Transfer Market", as Europe's top clubs were put on red alert regarding Icardi's availability.

Wanda Nara's tweet was confirmed a few hours later, in the interview where she confirmed it would be unlikely that the forward would remain in Milan.

"From what I can see, Inter have put Icardi up for sale." she said, before going on to explain the why Icardi's departure has come about.

"Mauro would be very sad to leave Inter, but we’ve understood the club’s economic situation and evidently they cannot hold Icardi back."

The report states that Inter have received offers in excess of £34m for the Argentinean forward, amid interest from clubs including Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, as well as Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Atletico Madrid have emerged as the front runners for the striker's signature with reports that Icardi's agent will meet in the coming week with Diego Simeone's club over a proposed transfer.
