The agent of Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has played down talk of a move to Liverpool by insisting he has not met Reds manager Jurgen Klopp to discuss a move for the striker.
Higuain is expected to depart Naples after turning down a new contract with the Serie A side and The Express claims that Liverpool would be very interested in the former Real Madrid man.
Klopp and the 28-year-old's agent Nicolas Higuain were spotted in California watching a Copa America match, but Nicolas has denied any discussions or talks over Gonzalo's future, with Paris Saint-Germain also looking at the Argentinian as Zlatan Ibrahimovic's replacement.
He told Italian radio station Radio CRC:
“I’ve been in Argentina for a month, I was also in Paris to see PSG because I have other French players as clients and many friends in football, but now I see everywhere that I met [Jurgen] Klopp too but none of this is true.
Shocker. Klopp spotted watching Higuain last night with his brother and agent. Leaves minutes after he was subbed. pic.twitter.com/hmlUWUseRa— Scott Saunders (@_scottsaunders) June 7, 2016
“I don’t need to talk about my brother with the Parisian club, if PSG want to talk they have to call (president Aurelio) De Laurentiis, not me.”
Liverpool are expected to shake up their strikeforce with Christian Benteke and Mario Balotelli expected to depart on top of the club completing the signing of winger Sadio Mane from Southampton.
Higuain is a proven goalscorer with his 36-goal haul last season breaking the record for most goals in a single Serie A campaign, but with Liverpool unable to provide Champions League action, he may not favour a move to Anfield.
