Which players separated themselves from the rest in the last week of MLS action? There were several players who produced some very good displays, but three were especially good and they did enough to be considered the top three players in MLS Week 15. Who is ranked at the top? Let's find out!
3. Benny Feilhaber - Sporting Kansas City
Benny Feilhaber was one of the best players in MLS last season, but this year he wasn't able to repeat those performances until this weekend. The box-to-box midfielder was instrumental in Sporting Kansas City's 2-0 win against FC Dallas. The 31-year-old assisted on the first goal with an accurate cross, and converted a penalty for the second strike. He was a constant threat on both sides of the pitch.
2. David Villa - New York City FC
David Villa was close to scoring one of the best goals in MLS history with a chip from midfield that rattled the crossbar, but he still found a way to leave his mark when he placed the ball home after a great assist from Jack Harrison. Villa remains the heart and soul of NYCFC, and at this point he's a regular name in our weekly rankings. He's sitting near the top of the MVP race with his continued excellence on a weekly basis.
1. Mike Grella - New York Red Bulls
The Red Bulls' midfielder was the team's best player on the pitch during New York's win over the Seattle Sounders, and his importance was big enough to make him the top player of the week. He scored a brace - including one of the best goals of the week with a spectacular chip over Stefan Frei - but he also excelled on the defensive end, as he limited the spaces for the opposing playmakers throughout the entire match. Stellar effort from the 29-year-old midfielder.
