West Brom are set to make a bid to sign out of favour West Ham forward Diafra Sakho in a swap deal with English striker Saido Berahino The Sun has reported.
Berahino, 22, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Baggies for the last year after his superb 2014/15 season, in which he scored 14 Premier League goals. This tempted Tottenham into a £20m bid for him which was rejected by the club despite Berahino's desire to leave.
Since then the Englishman only went on to score four Premier League goals last season in twenty eight games. The striker has just 12 months left on his current deal and has reportedly rejected a new contract worth £50k a week, and made it clear he does not want to stay at the Hawthorns.
Meanwhile, West Ham's Diafra Sakho has been heavily linked with a move away from the club after an £11m bid from Sunderland was rejected. The forward is said to be frustrated at the lack of playing time he has been given and at his basic wage of £27k a week. Since arriving from French side Metz, in a deal worth £3.5m the 29-year-old has gone on to score 19 times in 49 games for the Hammers.
However, it is thought that West Ham value the player at £15m and will only accept a bid in that region.
With the opening day fixtures announced on Wednesday, both players will know who their clubs will be taking on in the opening day, should the swap deal go through. West Ham start their campaign against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, while West Brom kick off their season away to Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace.
