Liverpool have agreed a €6m deal to sign highly-rated Anderlecht teenager Samuel Bastien, according to reports in Italy.
Irpinia News suggests that the Reds have struck the deal to land the 19-year-old after he impressed last season while on a loan stint at Avellino, in Italy’s Serie B. Liverpool have reached the agreement in principle with the Belgian outfit, and the player is being kept up to date with developments by agent Franklin Mala Makani, while on holiday in Spain.
Jurgen Klopp's side have beaten a host of clubs to the player's signature, as the likes of Palermo, Sporting CP, Fiorentina and Juventus were interested in securing the youngster. The Reds have been following his progress over the last year and have been impressed with his displays.
Liverpool scouts have frequently watched the Belgium Under-21 international play for Avellino - where he made 31 appearances last season - and the player looks set to add to a substantial Belgian contingent already in place at Anfield. The likes of Christian Benteke, Divock Origi and Simon Mignolet already feature in Liverpool's first team squad.
Bastien has been likened to Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne for his style of play, but it's likely the player will not yet be seen in Liverpool red as he's destined to be sent back out on loan to gain first team experience.
Liverpool have also been linked with moves for the likes of Piotr Zielinski - who also featured in Italian football with Empoli last season - and highly-rated central midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
The Reds have already secured deals for the likes of Marko Grujic, Loris Karius and Joel Matip ahead of the new campaign.
