Liverpool are reportedly expected to release their 20-year old midfielder Daniel Trickett-Smith this Summer as the former Crewe Alexandra man has failed to pave his way into the first team since joining the club four years ago.

The reds spent an initial £300,000 on the 16-year-old in 2012, with the fee rising to £1m with clauses. However despite being dubbed one of the brightest young stars to come out of the UK in recent years, Liverpool are prepared to let Trickett-Smith go before he could even play in a first-team Liverpool shirt.

Trickett-Smith helped Liverpool reach the FA Youth Cup semi-finals in 2013 where he played alongside Jordan Ibe, he was rewarded for his efforts with a three-year professional contract.

However, Jurgen Klopp's arrival and several big money signings in Liverpool's midfield meant that the 20-year old never got a chance to impress his new manager.

Huddersfield Town are reportedly interested in the creative midfielder, that was once tipped to come Liverpool's next number 10.

Liverpool head to Jurgen Klopp's former side Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday night before welcoming Stoke City to Anfield on Sunday as we enter the final few games of a magnificent Premier League season.
