When Anthony Martial joined Manchester United last summer, all we really knew for sure was that the Frenchman became the world's most expensive teenager in doing so.

Most reports quoted Martial's transfer fee as £36m, while others speculated the grand total could reach a staggering £58m.

Well now we know - courtesy of documents leaked by French outlet Le Figaro.

The papers state the Red Devils agreed to pay Monaco €50m (£38m) over the course of the season, but may have to fork out upwards of £60m if Martial triggers certain add-ons.

The principality side are due an extra €10m (£7.6m) if he scores 25 league goals, €10m if he wins 25 caps for France and €10m if he is nominated for FIFA's Ballon d'Or award.

And Monaco could yet bag even more money off United, if the Red Devils were to sell the striker for more than €60m (£45m) - in which case they are due 50 per cent of the profit.

Martial has been one of the few positives in a disappointing campaign for Louis van Gaal's team, scoring eight goals in 26 appearances for his new side.

The former Lyon youngster made his France debut back in September and has racked up six caps to date.
