Chelsea After 12-Year-Old New Xavi

Chelsea are tracking 12-year-old Barcelona wonderkid Xavi Simons, according to the Mail.

The youngster took a starring role in the prestigious La Liga Promises tournament, held last month in Miami, and has been on Chelsea's radar for a number of years despite his young age.

Chelsea made their first move in 2014, according to his father Regillio Simons - who works with the Ajax academy at the moment - but are still monitoring whether they're able to prise him away from the Barcelona academy in the future.

Stoke Target Lorient Midfielder

Gabon international Didier Ndong is a transfer target for Mark Hughes' Stoke City, according to Footmercato.

The 23-year-old moved to Lorient 12 months ago and has made a big impression on Ligue 1, and Hughes has sat up to take notice too. The player is contracted until 2019 and Lorient aren't looking to sell, but Hughes is considering trying his luck.

Hammers Ready Arteta Bid

GNK Dinamo Zagreb v Arsenal FC - UEFA Champions League

West Ham United are looking to Arsenal's Mikel Arteta as a potential short-term signing to strengthen their midfield, reported the Brentwood Gazette.

The Spaniard - who is club captain of Arsenal - is no longer a first choice at the club and could leave in the summer transfer window, if not before. West Ham are keen on convincing him to move across London, but could encounter an issue because of Arsenal's current injury problems.

Arteta is expected to play a bigger role than usual in first team affairs this month, as Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla will not be back until February.

Garde Confirms Talks Over Debuchy

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde has confirmed that he's held talks with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger over a move for Mathieu Debuchy, reported Express and Star.

Debuchy is out of favour at Arsenal due to Hector Bellerin's emergence and Wenger hasn't ruled out his departure this month. Garde admitted that he's been working on a move for the Frenchman.

He said: "I had a conversation with Arsene a few days ago about some of the players and Mathieu Debuchy was among those players."

Magpies Shelve Plans Over Townsend

Manchester United U21 v Tottenham Hotspur U21: Barclays U21 Premier League

Newcastle have withdrawn their interest in Tottenham's Andros Townsend, after being quoted a transfer fee of over £10m.

Chronicle Live reports that Newcastle don't see value for money in the move at that amount, and could instead turn their attention to signing Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea City.

Bournemouth Still Punching With El Shaarawy Offer

Italy v Romania - International Friendly

Having secured the loan signing of former £20m-plus attacker Juan Iturbe, Bournemouth are looking to add another big name to their ranks in the shape of Stephan El Shaarawy.

The winger has been on loan at Monaco for the first half of the season, but if he makes one more (his 25th) appearance for them Monaco will have to buy him outright under the terms of the loan agreement. Monaco don't want to do that and are prepared to exile him from their team.

Bournemouth could take advantage and bring him to the Premier League for the second half of the season, according to Sky Sports.

Schalke Confirm Inler Interest

Schalke manager Andre Breitenreiter has confirmed that the club are interested in taking Leicester City's Gokhan Inler on loan, according to the Leicester Mercury.

Inler rejected Schalke for Leicester in the summer but has found it difficult to break into the first team at the King Power Stadium, and he's looking to play regular first team football ahead of Switzerland's Euro 2016 campaign.

The manager said, however, that a deal isn't close: "I don't think it's a financial problem. The player has shown interest, but he's not here yet. It raises the question whether he wants to join FC Schalke 04 by all means."

City Close to Signing Australian International

A-League Rd 11 - Central Coast v Brisbane

One deal that is close though is Manchester City's signing of a new Central Coast Mariners playmaker Anthony Caceres.

The 23-year-old plays regularly in Australia's A-League, but is featuring for the team propping up the division. City though are close to signing the player according to their manager, Tony Rallis, who told Fox Sports"I can confirm we have been approached by Manchester City about a potential move and we are in discussions.

"We also understand that Mike Charlesworth, the Mariners chairman, has agreed a fee with City.

"However we need to ascertain what the long-term future would hold for Anthony in this situation, and where all parties see him ending up. Making decisions based on romance or short-term financial considerations is in nobody's interest."

Rabi-OUT of PSG?

The agent of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot is in London to hold talks over a potential move to Arsenal, report the Express.

Arsenal have been linked with the youngster consistently over the last few months, and are looking to capitalise on the player's unhappiness regarding his place in the team. Rabiot is not a PSG regular and has fallen out with manager Laurent Blanc, so agent/mother Veronique is looking to push through a £15m move to the Emirates.

Blanc said on the player recently: "Adrien has to understand that when you have the possibility of going to the end of your contract and to leave for free, you can do it. Otherwise, when you sign a contract of five years with PSG, you have to respect your first club."

Liverpool Linked With German Footballer No: 3,567...Again

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan as Juventus have withdrawn their interest, reported the Express.

Manchester United are in the frame for the player too, but given his relationship with former manager Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool stand in a good position to sign him. Gundogan's contract expires in 2017.

Juve chief Beppe Marotta recently told German newspaper Bild: "Gundogan is a name we have not mentioned in relation to the winter transfer market.

"I do not think Borussia Dortmund want to sell the player. Why should we rely on Gundogan, when we have midfielders such as Claudio Marchisio? We have several options in midfield."

And This One's Getting Just as Repetitive...

Manchester United are prepared to offer Everton a bumper £40m to take Romelu Lukaku off their hands, according to the Mirror.

The Belgian has been in stunning form this season and has hit 12 goals in his last 12 games, with 15 league goals and 19 in all competitions in total. Lukaku appears destined for a move to a bigger club over the course of the next year, as he himself has expressed he wishes to play in the Champions League.

United are in the hunt to reach the top four, and that could be enough to convince Lukaku to move to Old Trafford. Everton though will look to make maximum profit on their record signing.
