Leeds United manager Steve Evans goes up against his former side in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend, and will be quietly confident of coming out on top given the side’s recent upturn in form.
Team News: Ross Turnbull, Gaetano Berardi and Chris Wood are all out of action.
Who will start against Rotherham United?
Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri is expected to start between the sticks for the Yorkshire outfit due to Turnbull being out for the season. The Italian has been a regular all campaign but did concede the last time he lined up against Rotherham.
Defenders Charlie Taylor and Scott Wootton could well start at left-back and right-back respectively ahead of this weekend’s cup clash, with Sol Bamba and Liam Cooper potentially partnering him at the heart of the backline. It’s a familiar defence that have played together this season so they should be organised.
Liam Bridcutt has been operating in the deep-lying role to offer protection and recycle possession, and should keep his place for the Rotherham clash. He will likely have Lewis Cook and Luke Murphy alongside him, with Sam Byram and Stuart Dallas on the wings. It’s a strong Leeds outfit, and one that should get a result at home.
Leeds United striker Souleymane Doukara led the line in his last game, and could do the same again in the FA Cup. The 24-year-old has hardly played for the Whites this season but is now getting game time due to injury to Chris Wood. The home side will be hoping Souleymane Doukara can quickly find his feet to prolong the side’s stay in the competition.
