5 Things Arsenal Fans Should Know About Transfer Target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

With the January transfer window upon us Europe's best clubs are circling around Aubameyang like vultures. Dortmund must try hard to keep their lethal striker.

Despite the African player of the year stating his intent to stay with Dortmund Arsenal are still heavily linked and here's five reasons why:

1. He's a Pace Merchant

Arguably the world's fastest striker, Aubameyang's pace makes him dangerous on the counter, difficult for defenders to handle and able to beat offside traps.

His quick burst of acceleration and speed has been a key factor in Dortmund's strong first half to the season with his pressure and closing down causing havoc.

A front three of Walcott, Aubameyang and Sanchez would be the world's fastest front line and would yield so many goals for Arsene Wenger's side.

2. Boasts an Impressive Scoring Record

This season has been career defining, if anything.

24 goals in all competitions including 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga games shows his natural goal scoring awareness, ability to convert through balls from midfield and even score some stunning free kicks.

While Arsenal arguably need a striker to boost their title run, Aubameyang will pounce on Ozil's through balls and score goals for fun.

3. Key Pitch Contribution

Borussia Dortmund's stunning goal-scoring run so far this season has been largely down to the Gabon international striker's goals.

Along with his 18 goals in 17 league appearances, Aubameyang has set up four goals for his Dortmund teammates, meaning he's involved in a goal every two games.

Considering Arsenal love to score team goals and require a striker that can hold up the ball for others, Aubameyang would be perfect for Arsenal.

4. A Very Versatile Forward

A brilliant side to his game is his ability to adapt to play on either wing or play as a lone striker.

In the last 18 months, he has moved from the wing and been converted to a centre forward to replace the goals of Robert Lewandowski and his club have seen the merits of this switch.

His pace, strength, ball control and eye for goal would give Arsenal an alternative style and another source for goals.

5. A Bit of a Joker

One for the fans who love characters in the game, Aubameyang is definitely one of them.

In the past he has celebrated scoring goals by pulling on Spiderman and Batman masks and revealing a Batman t-shirt underneath his shirt.

With the Arsenal dressing room missing Podolski and Eboue for dressing room banter, Aubameyang would be the man to liven up the squad on and off the pitch.
