A well respected journalist has claimed Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be Arsenal bound after the club made a bid to sign the rapid forward.

According to Spanish journalist Kike Marin who works for El Confidencial in his hometown, the Gunners have made a big bid to snap up the striker in January.

He claims Arsene Wenger has offered around €60m to Dortmund for his services, with the Gabonese hitman top of his list for the new year.

Signing the 26-year-old in the winter window would be a big coup with BVB unlikely to want to sell their star player halfway through the season.

He also recently signed a new deal with the club and reports that he prefers a move to Spain are rife considering his mother is of Spanish decent.

With that said, Marin is well known for sticking out big stories on his Twitter pages during the transfer window so it's worth taking his stories with a pinch of salt.

He falsely, albeit along with many others, claimed Karim Benzema was Arsenal bound in the summer whilst also suggested the Gunners were set to sign Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

Gunners supporters probably wont be happy to hear him spouting off more transfer stories about their club but the prospect of signing Aubameyang is sure to excite fans.
