The journalist who broke the story of Anthony Martial's deal to Manchester United has revealed the club's number one transfer target for the January transfer window.

Mohamed Bouhafsi is a journalist with French outlet RMC Sport and was the first to reveal all about the Frenchman's surprise move to Old Trafford in the summer.

His reputation within world football is highly respectable and his claims should not be taken lightly.

United's mixed fortunes this season have been well documented with boss Louis van Gaal still reportedly on the brink of leaving the club.

That's despite the 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday, which will no doubt ease some of the mounting pressure on the Dutchman.

That said, Bouhafsi took to his Twitter account on Saturday to claim the Red Devils will go back in for a move for Everton centre-back John Stones.

The Journalist claims that the Manchester club failed with a move for the highly rated centre-half in the summer and will renew their interest this winter.

He tweeted in French: "After having missed this summer, #MUFC goes back in for Stones! #EFC"

His claims ought to be respected and a move for the young English defender would no doubt please United fans as they seek to get their season back on track.
