Norwich City have bid £7.3m for Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia, according to BBC Sport.
It is understood the Canaries have also offered the Italy international an annual salary in the region of £2.2m.
Ranocchia captained the Nerazzurri last term but has struggled to get a look in under Roberto Mancini this season, whose side currently lead the Serie A standings and possess the division's best defence.
Inter are therefore unlikely to stand in the 27-year-old's way, although the player himself is supposedly undecided about signing for Alex Neil's team.
Norwich, who were promoted via the Championship play-offs in May are currently 15th in the Premier League, three points above the relegation places.
Everton and Liverpool have previously been linked with moves for Ranocchia, who arrived at the San Siro from Genoa in 2011.
The towering centre-back has played well over a hundred games for Inter, and won 20 caps for his country.
