Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly had a 15-minute conversation with Russian midfielder Magomed Ozdoev when his side played Rubin Kazan at the start of November, according the Russian football journalist Artur Petrosyan.

The midfielder only played in the second half of Kazan's 1-0 defeat but Klopp was apparently impressed enough to approach the 23-year-old.

Ozdoev signed on a permanent transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer after spending last season on loan in Kazan and has been an important player for his new side since.

The 23-year-old has played in all of the club’s European outings as they look to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League alongside Liverpool.

It is no secret that Klopp is looking for a midfielder, after being linked with Lazio's Lucas Biglia. And with many big clubs interested, according to Petrosyan, the German manager’s purported talk with the player could have been a way to improve Liverpool’s chances of securing his signature.

Klopp is known for having a good track record in picking up relatively unknown players and bringing the best out of them - many of Borussia Dortmund's stars came through this system. And Liverpool fans can be excited of what is to coming in January.
