Borussia Mönchengladbach, Wolfsburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Gent, Malmö, FC Astana, BATE Borisov
FC Astana are the first ever club from Kazakhstan to reach the Champions League group stages, bringing a whole new meaning to the term 'Eastern Europe'. Borussia Monchengladbach are making their debut in the competition in its current guise, as are Gent.
3. Pot 3
Olympique Lyonnais, Dynamo Kyiv, Olympiacos, Galatasaray, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla, CSKA Moscow
Pot Three holds several very able clubs in Lyon, Sevilla and Roma, while most will western European sides will be keen to avoid midweek trips to places like Istanbul, Kiev and Moscow.
2. Pot 2
Manchester City, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, FC Porto, Arsenal, Valencia, Manchester United, Bayer Leverkusen
Pot Two is very strong this season, with a number of teams demoted from the top pot as a result of slight rule changes. Real Madrid will fancy their chances of winning the whole thing, while Manchester United have returned to the competition after a season away.

Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit St Petersburg, PSV Eindhoven
UEFA have changed the format slightly this season. Pot One now features the holders, Barcelona, and the winners from Europe's other top seven leagues, bringing some of the true meaning back to the notion of the 'Champions' League.
