Arsenal target Karim Benzema has reportedly been available for transfer for some time with the onus being on Arsene Wenger to decide whether he wants to go "all in" for the French forward.

Sky Sports pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft made the revelation on his official Twitter account on Thursday, insisting that a deal could yet be done.

The news falls in line with Goal.com's own assessment of the situation which bears a slightly less optimistic message for the Gunners, claiming their hope to sign Benzema is 'fading', but that Arsene Wenger was right to pursue the former Lyon man as Real Madrid had given early indications this summer that an agreement could be reached.

It seems that the talk surrounding Benzema's future will not go away until deadline day and should Arsenal get their way, they'll land the star forward for around £45m in a similar manner to how Mesut Özil was imported to North London.

But if Madrid do not recruit a player to fill the void Benzema could leave, then it appears that they would have no pressing need to deliver one of the world's best number nines to North London in wrapping paper.
