Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Lyon striker Clinton N'Jie subject to international clearance and a work permit being granted.

The Cameroon international has agreed a five-year deal at White Hart Lane on his 22nd birthday, following Friday's sale of Roberto Soldado to Villarreal.

Spurs have not disclosed a fee for N'Jie, whose transfer had been shrouded in doubt over the past 24 hours due to reported interest from north London rivals, Arsenal.

N'Jie scored seven goals and provided as many assists in 15 starts for Les Gones last season, his first full campaign at the Stade de Gerland.

Dubbed the next Samuel Eto'o by Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas, the versatile attacker has also found six times in his 11 national team appearances so far.

N'Jie, a fluent English speaker, becomes Spurs' fourth summer signing after defensive trio Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld.
