Barcelona B winger Adama Traore has rejected offers from Stoke City and Liverpool to sign for Aston Villa on a three year contract with an option for a fourth according to Spanish media outlet AS.

The 19-year-old was the subject of strong Liverpool interest as the Reds sent senior officials to Barcelona to negotiate a transfer.

Traore reportedly had a €15m release clause which was not set as his asking price as the Catalans were seeking €6m for the starlet which would not represent a serious outlay for Villa.

Indeed, early rumours proved to be false as Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez confirmed that Traore was available for €6m last week.

"[Adama] has a release clause of €6m which it is clear that some clubs can take on," Robert said. "He could leave, but is something he must decide himself. The market is like that."

Tim Sherwood's side are not short of cash following Christian Benteke's £32m sale to Liverpool, however and it appears they are using the full amount to upgrade the rest of their squad.

Villa will be signing a La Masia product not short of experience at the lower levels of Spanish football as the Mali international has featured 63 times for Barcelona B, scoring 8 goals.

Traore made just four senior team appearances throughout his professional career, scoring his first goal last season in an 8-1 win over SD Huesca in the Copa del Rey.
