Juventus are apparently still attempting to land Julian Draxler from Schake 04 and have made new bid for the player, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Old Lady are in a desperate search for an attacking midfielder this summer and their dreams of signing the likes of Real Madrid's Isco and Chelsea's Oscar have been crushed as both players have no intention of leaving their current clubs.
The Italian team later turn their attention to German internationals, Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich) and Julian Draxler (Schalke 04), but both Bundesliga teams have rejected the offers from the Turin side for their players.
However, the recent €37m sale of Arturo Vidal to Bayern Munich has provided Juventus more cash to maneuver at the transfer market and Serie A champions are willing to use some of that income and have submitted a new offer for Julian Draxler.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport the Old Lady have sent €26m offer for the player, from which Schalke would get €17m instantly and the rest of €9m would be received after the bonuses are met. Their offer is still reportedly some ways short, as Schalke are looking for €30m bid to allow the player to leave them, who has allegedly agreed personal terms with the Italian giants. The 21-year-old would sign a five-year contract in which he would earn up to €3m per season.
Schalke 04 general manager Horst Heldt has stated that the club wants to hold onto their star player and would only consider letting him go if they receive an "astronomical offer", reports Football Italia.
“Our plan is not to sell Julian,” Heldt told the Rheinischen Post.
“That said, in this business it’s difficult to make definitive statements. If another club makes an astronomical offer for a player, for the good of the club you must always at least consider it."
“We want to keep him, but we can only definitively put the issue to bed on August 31. To say anything else would not be honest."
“Today I could say ‘he will not leave’, but then a few days later a huge offer for him is put on the table.”
Calciomercato on the other end suggests that Juventus will only make a move for Draxler, if they fail to sign Mario Gotze from Bayern who as they see is the prime target for the No.10 position. It is also believed that the German champions have set the €30m asking price for their player.
The Italian newspaper also reports that head coach Massimiliano Allegri is keen in finding a replacement for Arturo Vidal and sees Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan as an ideal solution to bolster his side. A bid of €20m is believed to be enough and persuade the German to accept offer and acquire his services.
